Coronavirus update for Victoria

Victoria has recorded three new cases of coronavirus.
Two of the new cases are linked to the Holiday Inn cases. They are a woman aged in her 50s and a child aged under 10.
The total number of COVID-19 cases now linked to the Holiday Inn is 16.
The other new case is in an international airline crew member who is in hotel quarantine.
The number of active cases in Victoria is 21, made up of 15 locally acquired cases, an increase of two since yesterday and 6 cases in hotel quarantine, a decrease of one since yesterday.
The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 20,469.
Update: Holiday Inn Cases
The two new positive cases linked to the Holiday Inn both attended the private dining venue at 426 Sydney Rd in Coburg on the night of 6 February. They are from separate households.
Both have been in isolation since 12 February and both returned positive test results yesterday.
Following interviews with the cases, the following new exposure sites have been identified:
Monday 8 February
· Elite Swimming in Pascoe Vale from 5pm – 6pm
Tuesday 9 February
· Woolworths Broadmeadows Central from 12:15pm – 12:30pm, shortly followed by
· Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses in Broadmeadows Central from 12:30pm – 12:45pm
Wednesday 10 February
· Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre in Pascoe Vale from 4pm – 7:30pm
Thursday 11 February
· Yarra Trams No 11 (from Harbour Esplanade/Collins St to William St/Collins St #3) between 7.55am – 8.10am
· Yarra Trams No 58 (from Bourke St/William St #5 to Queen Victoria Market/Peel St #9) between 8.10am – 8.25am
· Queen Victoria Market – Section 2 Fruit and Vegetables and Section 2 female toilets, between 8.25am – 10.10am
· Yarra Trams No 58 (from Queen Victoria Market/Peel St #9 to Bourke St/William St #5) between 9.40am – 9.55am
Anyone who had attended the above sites on the listed dates and times must isolate, get tested and stay isolated for 14 days.

Yesterday we reported 996 people have been identified as primary close contacts related to the Holiday Inn.
Today that number is 940. This number will continue to change as our contact tracers work to clear exposure sites.
Of the 940 primary close contacts, 129 are direct family, social, and workplace close contacts. Of these, 127 have tested negative and two test results are pending and are expected later today.
In addition, 1567 contacts have been identified through the exposure site at Terminal 4 at Melbourne Airport. All of these people have been contacted by health authorities to ensure they are isolating and getting tested.
Victoria’s contact tracing is working well with more than 98 per cent of all primary close contacts in the past week being contacted within 48 hours.
Case under investigation
The department is reviewing a weak positive test result in a person who is a primary close contact associated with the private dining venue in Coburg. Testing of this person has returned several negative results.
Out of an abundance of caution, public health actions are being undertaken with workplace contacts of this person and urgent repeat testing and serology is being undertaken.
Wastewater detections
The department is also investigating two COVID-19 fragment detections in metropolitan Melbourne wastewater catchments.
One detection is in the Coburg catchment which includes the suburbs of Coburg, Coburg North and Reservoir. The other detection ids in the South Melbourne catchment which includes the suburbs of Southbank, South Melbourne, St Kilda Road/Domain and parts of South Yarra and Prahran.
People in these areas are asked to remain extra vigilant and come forward for testing if they develop even the mildest symptoms of COVID-19.
Circuit-breaker actions
Victoria’s new circuit-breaker actions are now in effect.
You cannot leave your home unless it is for one of four reasons: shopping for necessary goods and services; care and caregiving; exercise; and permitted work.
You must stay within five kilometres of your home. This limit does not apply to work or when giving or receiving care. You can leave your home in an emergency or if there is family violence.
Face masks must be worn indoors and outdoors whenever you leave your home.
These measures will be in place until 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 February, subject to public health advice.
These important measures are critical to our efforts to limit potential community cases of COVID-19 and to stay on top of our current situation. By limiting movement, we can limit the spread.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath and loss or change in sense of smell or taste. If you are experiencing any symptoms, wear a fitted face mask when you get tested.
