Victoria was notified of 21 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All are locally acquired cases.
There are 163 active cases in Victoria – 161 locally acquired and two overseas acquired cases.
There are three COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria. One case is in intensive care.
The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 21,119.
Update: Outbreaks
Of the 21 new locally acquired cases, all are linked to current outbreaks. There were 11 cases in quarantine throughout their infectious period.
The locally acquired cases include:
· 15 cases linked to the Glenroy West Primary School – 10 cases are in a family group across three households. Two cases are students, one case is a staff member, one case is a household contact of an existing student case and one is a student from a school in Laverton with contact to a previously reported Glenroy case.
· Three cases are linked to Al-Taqwa College – a student, a staff member and a household contact of a student case.
· Two cases are household contacts of existing cases linked to the City of Hobsons Bay outbreak.
· One case is a household contact of an existing case who worked at the Caroline Springs Square Shopping Centre.
There are positive COVID-19 cases and exposure sites in multiple suburbs across metropolitan Melbourne.
Glenroy remains a key focus with 15 cases today linked to the Glenroy West Primary School, totalling 22 cases across eight households in Glenroy.
There are currently more than 14,000 primary close contacts in isolation in Victoria. The Department yesterday cleared around 650 primary close contact from earlier outbreaks.
Authorised officers, supported by the Australian Defence Force, continue to visit homes across Victoria to ensure that people are isolating correctly and are well supported. Yesterday was a record day with 1277 visits conducted. Officers are seeing a strong level of compliance.
There are more than 450 exposure sites in Victoria and that number continues to grow.

The Department regularly manages exposure sites that it doesn’t publish online, particularly if these sites represent lower-risk exposures, or if they have comprehensive record-keeping and contact tracing measures, or if they identify small, private locations – including smaller apartment or townhouse complexes.
We continue to ask every Victorian to check exposure sites regularly, as they are subject to change based on follow-up interviews and further investigation.
Update: Vaccinations
In another record day for Victoria, 29,490 vaccine doses were administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services yesterday.
The total number of doses administered through these services is 1,925,864.
The Victorian Government has announced a target to administer one million COVID-19 vaccination doses in the next five weeks through extended hours, an additional 150 vaccination booths coming online and new drive-through vaccination sites to be established in Wyndham, Melbourne’s south-east and the Hume-Whittlesea area.

Victorians aged between 18 and 39 can attend a state-run vaccination centre to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine should they provide informed consent.
Anyone who is eligible to be vaccinated is strongly encouraged to make a booking.

Update: Permit Zone changes
From 11:59pm 14 August, the 11 red zone Local Government Areas (LGAs) in South East Queensland are orange zones under Victoria’s travel permit system.
The LGAs are City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Regional Council, City of Gold Coast, City of Ipswich, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City, Noosa Shire Council, Redland City, Scenic Rim Regional Council, Somerset Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
If you are travelling to Victoria and you have been in these LGAs after 8:01pm 31 July, you still need an orange zone permit and must isolate on arrival, get tested within 72 hours and stay isolated until you receive a negative result.

Border bubble: All of NSW including the border bubble remains an extreme risk zone. Where a cross-border community area is designated an extreme risk zone, cross-border community must have a permit, exception or exemption to enter Victoria. Permits last for 14 days.
Update: COVID-19 wastewater detections in Victoria
We are continuing to see unexpected detections of COVID-19 fragments in wastewater in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Carlton, Glenroy-Broadmeadows, the Sunshine West industrial area, Camberwell and the Truganina-Williams Landing areas are all showing positive detections. The detections are in specific parts of those suburbs that have not recorded recent positive cases of COVID-19.
The unexpected wastewater detection in Carlton was identified within a public housing estate. Residents of this estate have been directly contacted and are being supported to get tested on site by CoHealth.
There are also regional detections in Shepparton and Lakes Entrance.
The Shepparton catchment includes the suburbs Shepparton, Kialla and small parts of Shepparton North and Orrvale. Anyone who lives, works or have visited those areas from 9 to 11 August is urged to watch for the slightest symptoms of COVID-19 and to get tested as soon as possible if symptoms develop.
The Lakes Entrance catchment includes the local government areas of Lakes Entrance, Lake Bunga, Kalimna, Lake Tyres and the Lake Tyres Aboriginal Trust. Anyone who lives, works or have visited those areas in Lakes Entrance from 8 to 11 August is urged to watch for the slightest symptoms of COVID-19 and to get tested as soon as possible if symptoms develop.
Wastewater detections in Victoria have been an early warning signal of positive cases appearing in areas, such as Phillip Island in regional areas and multiple metropolitan locations, so people in areas with recent wastewater detections need to be especially vigilant in getting tested should they develop even the mildest of symptoms.
The wastewater testing program is designed as an early warning system and a cautious approach is always taken when these detections are found.
The Department of Health has increased wastewater testing in areas with recent positive detections and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Update: Testing
A total of 33,675 tests were processed in Victoria yesterday.
In response to continued high demand for testing in Melton, a new Melton drive-through testing site located at the Melton Football and Netball Club in Toolern Vale is operating from 8am to 8pm this weekend.
Testing capacity on Shepparton has been boosted. The Goulburn Valley Health Acute Respiratory Clinic in Graham St, Shepparton, is open from 8am to 4pm, seven days a week and additional staffing has been brought in for this weekend. Extra weekend resources are also in place for three sites servicing Lakes Entrance. These are the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service drive-through testing site, the Bairnsdale Respiratory Clinic and at Gippsland Lakes Community Health. The Bairnsdale Respiratory Clinic and Gippsland Lakes Community Health testing sites are by appointment only.
Testing capacity has also been increased in Caroline Springs, Maidstone, Plumpton, St Albans, Sunshine West and Sydenham.
Demand for testing is busiest in the morning so people are encouraged to check the website for testing centre waiting times and choose a nearby site that has the best capacity or visit later in the day.
